Senior quarterback Arion Warren stepped up and took the lead to deliver Benton Academy a hard fought 20-18 win Friday at Hillcrest Christian.
Warren completed 8-of-14 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
"He did a great job of keeping offense moving the ball and leading us to a win,” said Raiders head coach Kenny Burton.

Sampson donated his services at the Manna House, a local ministry that serves free meals to those in need. The Manna House is located on Main Street next to Trinity Episcopal Church.

A large crowd gathered last week for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Rob’s Steakhouse, welcoming Yazoo City’s newest business on Highway 49. The restaurant was the dream of the late Rob Saxton. His father Mitch Saxton and his wife Leslie made his dream a reality. Both have said they know Rob is smiling down.

It has been three months since the untimely passing of his son Rob Saxton. But as Mitchell Saxton looks over the crowd gathered to welcome Yazoo’s newest business, “Rob’s Steakhouse,” he knows Rob is looking down, smiling.
“I know Rob is watching us,” Mitch said, with tears filling in his eyes.

Sheriff Jake Sheriff said a juvenile victim came forward to investigators with allegations that she was sexually assaulted.
Phillip Dunn, 35, was charged with gratification of lust.

Deputy injured while pursuing drag racers

Drag racing led to a deputy’s vehicle being struck by an out-of-control vehicle near Broadway last week.
The deputy was taken to a Jackson hospital and has since been released. And two suspects are being questioned in connection with the racing accident that could have led to more serious injuries.

Vaughan man charged with murdering girlfriend in his home

A Vaughan man is behind bars for allegedly shooting his girlfriend several times in the back of the head Sunday.
Anthony Simmons was charged with murder after he was arrested by deputies near Walker Road in the Vaughan community Sunday around 8 p.m.
