Richard Thomas Huxtable, Jr. formerly of Yazoo City passed away on May 6, 2017, at Silver Cross Home in Brookhaven, Mississippi at the age of 101.
He is survived by his children: Lea Huxtable Barrett and her husband Dennis of Brookhaven, Mississippi; Martha Huxtable Loocke and her husband Louis of Lakeland, Florida; Janie Smith Leslie and her husband Terry of Helena, Arkansas; Jimmy Smith and wife Carol of Spring, Texas; and his grandson Jim Benson of Lakeland, Florida. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 35 years Zell Munn Huxtable, also of Yazoo City in 1985, and his wife of 28 years Marie Smith Huxtable, also of Yazoo City in 2015.
He moved to Yazoo City in 1951 as one of the first employees of Mississippi Chemical Corporation, where he worked for 27 years. A faithful member of First Baptist Church, he loved his Sunday School Class, and he was delighted when the class attended in 100th birthday celebration in Brookhaven.
Stricklin-King Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements with visitation from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, May 9, immediately followed by a service in the Stricklin-King Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenland Cemetery in Union, Mississippi.
