D.D. Lewis, the great football linebacker, will be remembered at Mississippi State as one of the university’s most beloved athletes who happened to play on some of the school’s most abysmal teams. He died on Sept. 16 after being hospitalized for 12 days in Plano, Texas. He was 79.

Lady Mavs take Tallulah 10-5

Analee Whitworth hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to help the Lady Mavericks come from behind to defeat Tallulah 10-5 Monday.
Tallulah took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but Manchester cut it to 3-2 in the fourth. The Lady Mavericks piled on eight runs in the fifth to turn the tables.
