Police Chief Kenny Hampton said he was happy to report that Yazoo City had “a very uneventful” holiday weekend.
“We had more officers on the street over the Fourth of July weekend, and I am happy to say that it was a uneventful holiday weekend,” Hampton said. “Yazoo City did a good job this year, and I am proud of them.”
In anticipation of the holiday weekend, the police department beefed up its patrol within the community. With an increase of officers on the force, a heavy police presence was felt during a holiday weekend that traditionally has an increase of criminal activity.
“Those days are over,” Hampton said.
