A Yazoo County man remains behind bars for allegedly abusing and neglecting a 74-year-old woman at her home.
John Coghlan, 43, was charged with abuse and neglect of a vulnerable person and possession of a controlled substance.
Deputy Simon Stubblefield, with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said a multitude of issues were discovered surrounding the victim’s state.
“The suspect had cut the power line to her house,” Stubblefield said. “He cut the battery cables to her vehicle. Her keys, eyeglasses and cell phone had also been taken.”
Coghlan was also found to be in possession of two grams of crystal methamphetamine, he added.
More charges are pending as the investigation continues with Coghlan remaining in the county jail as of press time.
