The Yazoo Herald brought home eight awards from the Mississippi Press Association’s 2025 Advertising Division Better Newspaper Contest, including two first-place honors.
Editor and Publisher Jamie Patterson won first place in the Institutional Ad category and Holiday Ad category with her ad highlighting CF Industries’ Memorial Day appreciation.
Patterson won second place awards in Institutional and in Editorial Special Editions for the Herald’s Salute to Veterans. She also won Honorable Mention awards in General Retail and Institutional categories.
Sheila Trimm-Young, classifieds manager, won a second-place award in the Food and Beverage category for her ad highlighting Ribeyes’ dining services.
Jason Patterson, manager of member services with Yazoo Valley Electric Power Association, also won a second-place award in the Holiday category on behalf of Yazoo Valley’s seasons greetings.
Patterson said she is proud of her staff’s work, adding that these awards demonstrate the newspaper’s commitment to giving local businesses the best value for their advertising dollars.
“Our staff works hard to give our local businesses the best value in advertising, and most importantly, advertising that works,” she said. “The Herald works hard to get results, and it’s satisfying to see the recognition for those efforts.”
