State, county and city officials are celebrating tonight following the groundbreaking of Grenada County’s newest economic development win: SouthPoint Mississippi Industrial Park.
The Hollingsworth Companies – the largest non-urban industrial real estate developer in the southeastern United States – also announced Tuesday afternoon its intentions to stake its claim in Grenada and construct 14 strategically designed buildings in their newest park. Once built out, more than two million square feet of industrial space will have been made available, creating a projected job growth of up to 2,500 and a direct economic impact of $4 billion.
Matthew Harrison, CEO, president and executive director of the Greater Grenada Partnership, led the charge to recruit Hollingsworth and was joined by Gov. Tate Reeves, former Gov. Phil Bryant, members of the Mississippi House and Senate, the Grenada County Board of Supervisors, City of Grenada officials and dozens of business leaders from the region to celebrate the monumental occasion on land in the Grenada Business and Technology Park.
“These new high-quality industrial facilities will enhance our ability to attract new businesses and strengthen the local economy for years to come,” Harrison said. “With a direct impact of $4 billion and a multiplier of four, the total impact could reach as high as $16 billion.”

Joe Hollingsworth, CEO of The Hollingsworth Companies, was also on hand to announce his newest business venture and celebrate his expansion into Grenada County.
“We are excited to invest in Grenada and expand our portfolio of best-in-class industrial facilities,” he said. “This industrial park will provide move-in-ready space for manufacturers and distributors seeking to scale their operations in a business-friendly environment. Mississippi’s strong workforce, competitive cost structure and central location make it an ideal destination for industrial growth.”
SouthPoint is located just off Interstate 55 approximately 100 miles south of Memphis, Tenn., and 100 miles north of Jackson, which along with railroad and airport access, makes it an ideal location for The Hollingsworth Companies.
“When you think about what it takes in today’s economic development world, it takes a lot of different things,” Gov. Reeves said Tuesday. “To win takes a lot of different things, but I will tell you this, there are not very many communities that are winning like this – that are winning big like this.”
During the event, crews could be seen off in the distance working on the first two buildings for the industrial park. Dirt was being moved and steel beams were stacked ready to be erected.
The Hollingsworth Companies is also one of the top construction firms in the southeastern United States. The company has 125 tenants and 21 million square feet of industrial space across 18 states. It specializes in developing and leasing Class-A industrial facilities that support manufacturing, distribution and logistics operations.
