George Phillip Chisolm, 83, passed away on June 26, 2025.
Funeral services were held on June 28 at Harland Creek Baptist Church. Reverend Roger Richardson officiated the service. Burial followed at Coxburg Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.
Phillip was born in Coxburg, MS to Homer and Louise Chisolm on February 20, 1942. He graduated from Coxburg School, Holmes Junior College, Delta State University and Mississippi College. He was an educator for over 44 years. During that time, he served in numerous roles including math instructor, coach and principal. He touched the lives of thousands of students who lovingly referred to him as Mr. Chisolm, Coach, and most commonly, “Chief”. He retired from the school system in 2008. After retirement, he devoted his time to his cattle farm, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He loved traveling to watch them participate in all their activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Louise Killebrew Chisolm, as well as two of his siblings, Edward Earl Chisolm and Patricia McCreary.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Donna Starns Chisolm; children, Terri Spencer (Richard), Richard Chisolm (Bridgett); sister, Margaret Baggett (Paul); brother-in-law, Bob McCreary; sister-in-law, Janet Chisolm; five grandchildren, Niki, Allen, Connor, Morgan, Matthew; seven great-grandchildren, Spencer Grace, Allie Kate, Carley Bea, George Mason, Avey Lou, Ras and Rowdy.
