Manchester’s first home game of the season featured the two teams that battled it out for the state title in 2019.
The Mavericks delivered a second straight shutout with a 34-0 win over Marvell Academy.
Parks Poe scored immediately to put Manchester on top, and he wasted little time scoring his second touchdown of the night.
Manchester’s offense seemed unstoppable with 420 yards of total offense, 345 on the ground and 75 through the air.
Parks Poe had five carries for 127 yards and three touchdowns.
“We thought we came out early with a lot of focus and energy,” said MA head coach Bryan Dendy.
Jon Riley Poe had six carries for 154 yards and a 90-yard touchdown run. He also completed 5-of-7 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Connor Stevens had five carries for 59 yards.
Michael Williams added six carries for 35 yards.
Tres Paul led the receivers with two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Dylan Dendy had one catch for 12 yards. He also had two carries for four yards.
Ty Love had one catch for two yards. He also had one carry for four yards.
The defense was equally impressive, holding Marvell scoreless despite the fact that the Eagles got within striking distance twice.
Jon Riley Poe had seven tackles.
Parks Poe had three tackles and an interception.
Dylan Dendy had four tackles.
Tyler Bardwell and Tyler Johnson had three tackles each.
Tres Paul had two tackles, and Mills Paul, Staten Greenlee, Ty Walton and Ty Love had one each.
This week the Mavericks host North Sunflower Academy.
“We play a really improved North Sunflower team this week,” Dendy said. “They are well coached and have a lot of talent.”
