Yazoo County head coach Robert Dobbs and Yazoo City head coach Sherrod Gideon will get an early look at their respective squads this Friday afternoon as the Panthers and Indians are set to compete in a Spring Football Jamboree.
The Yazoo City Indians will host the jamboree this Friday with the Panthers squaring off against the Murrah Mustangs at 6 p.m. followed by the host Indians facing off against the Holmes County Central Jaguars at 7:15 p.m.
Both the Indians and Panthers lost several key pieces last season, but have some prospects that, if they develop, could lead to success in the Fall.
Yazoo County returns quarterback Donavin Green, who has already been polishing his game in camps and workout sessions this Spring. Speedster Emmanuel Moore will be one of Green’s primary targets this year along with returning receivers Mike Brown and Austin Haymer.
For the Indians, Gideon is tasked with replacing his entire quarterback and receiving corps, but freshman signal caller T.J. Rials seems up to the task. Until the receivers are ready, running backs Nikqwan Parker and Corderro Mcbride will lead the way.
