A vacant house partially destroyed by a fire several years ago was the site of a second blaze last week.
The Yazoo City Fire Department tackled the blaze at the vacant house, located at 415 East Second Street in Yazoo City, last Tuesday with firefighters remaining on the scene until about noon the next day.
Assistant Fire Chief Kenny Washington said no injuries were reported at the scene, but a neighboring home did receive damage to its siding from the fire. He also added it is fortunate there were no other damages considering the high winds that circulated through the area that day.
As of press time, Washington said the cause of the fire had not been determined.
“Neighbors reported to us that they had seen a lot of traffic going in and out of the house,” Washington said. “The house was empty, having burned up several years ago. But it was reported to us that a man with a red hat was seen coming out of the house. But there was not enough information to help us identify who that person could have been.”
