The Yazoo City Police Department was out in full force over the weekend to deter any possible retaliation to a recent murder over an earlier Homecoming weekend.
Chief Terry Gann said no arrests have been made as of press time in connection to the shooting death of Jarvis Williams, 35, of Yazoo City, on Oct. 12. But he said the case is still very active with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation also stepping in to assist.
“I got my guys working on the shooting 24-7,” Gann said. “And we have the United States Marshals Service helping locate some individuals who have fled the state.”
Gann said his department is also handling any possible retaliations within the community.
“As soon as we hear about any possible retaliations, we bring our full force out,” Gann said. “We are going to these areas we feel these retaliations might occur, and we are saturating those areas.”
