The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released their State Employment and Unemployment Summary for November of 2023.
Unemployment rates were higher in November in 12 states and stable in 38 states and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
Twenty states had jobless rate decreases from a year earlier, 15 states and the District had increases, and 15 states had little change.
Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 3 states and was essentially unchanged in 47 states and the District of Columbia.
Over the year, nonfarm payroll employment increased in 28 states and was essentially unchanged in 22 states and the District of Columbia.
The current unemployment rate for Mississippi (as of November 2023) stands at 3.3 percent.
For comparison, the unemployment rate for the previous reported month (October 2023) was reported as 3.3 percent.
Mississippi stands at a 0.8 percent decrease from the same point the previous year (November, 2022).
Mississippi's unemployment rate at the beginning of the previous year was 4.1 percent (in January, 2022).
The national unemployment rate currently stands at 3.7 percent, which has fallen by 0.2 percent from October 2023 (last month's report).
Mississippi stands at 3.3 percent (a 0.4 percent decrease from the national unemployment rate).
