The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department conducted a recent shakedown at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility, resulting in deputies confiscating several cellular phones and even a handmade weapon.
Sheriff Jeremy McCoy said deputies conducted the searches on Jan. 5 and 6 at the local jail.
“Deputies located several cell phones, chargers, and a homemade weapon ‘shank,’ said McCoy. “The introduction of contraband will not be tolerated, and anyone who is caught introducing any contraband of any kind will be prosecuted. This is not only dangerous to the inmate population, but it is very dangerous for staff as well.”
In other contraband news, Lakobi Beasley and Jose Martinez were both charged with introducing contraband into a federal facility.
