Another homicide occurred in Yazoo City over the weekend, leaving one man dead from a gunshot wound to the back. Investigators have all issued a warrant for a suspect in the city’s most recent murder.
According to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers, Willie Thomas Jr. died at a Jackson hospital about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Detective Richard Brooks, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Wesley Littleton. Littleton remained at large as of press time.
Brooks said officers first responded to reports of an incident about 10 p.m. at 632 Central Alley, where they found Thomas with a gunshot wound to his back.
“There was a lot of blood loss, and he was still alive at that point,” Brooks said. “He even spoke to officers briefly before being airlifted to a Jackson hospital.”
Thomas would later die from his injuries at the Jackson hospital. Through their investigation, Brooks said a warrant was issued for the arrest of Littleton.
As of press time, Littleton had not been arrested or charged.
