A reserve deputy with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department will be suspended following federal charges.
According to public records, Jonathan Purvis, 31, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals on Sept. 28. He was being held at the Madison County Detention Center. Numerous phone calls to the facility were not returned as of press time to determine if he had been released on bond.
The Yazoo Herald made several attempts to contact the U.S. Marshal for details on the case and to verify the charges. Phone calls and emails were not returned as of press time.
Terry Gann, chief deputy with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said Purvis will be suspended from his duties as a reserve deputy. He added that he has not spoken with Purvis or the arresting agency, but the suspension will come after communication has been made.
