Deputies arrested a fugitive and the woman helping him evade authorities this week, landing them both behind bars at the local county jail.
Jody Tate, 30, was charged with contempt of court and resisting arrest last Saturday. He was wanted by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department by failing to appear in court on previous felony charges.
Sandra Nelson, 31, was also charged with aiding and abetting.
Terry Gann, chief deputy with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the couple were arrested by deputies on Big Mound Road in the Bentonia area.
“We received several tips that Nelson was aiding in keeping Tate from getting arrested,” Gann said. “She allegedly was trying to keep him from getting caught. We received a tip on their whereabouts, and deputies captured Tate. He attempted to flee from the vehicle that Nelson was driving, but both were arrested.”
In other county arrests, Justin Robinson, 43, was charged with burglary, trespassing, malicious mischief and petit larceny.
“This arrest stemmed from a domestic situation,” Gann said. “Robinson allegedly broke into his estranged wife’s house while she was incarcerated, ransacking the house.”
