A would-be robber is behind bars this afternoon after attempting to rob a Grenada bank.
The incident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday inside the Walmart Supercenter located at 655 Sunset Dr.
According to Grenada Police Department Chief George Douglas, officers were dispatched to the Woodforest National Bank branch located inside the retail store after a report of a robbery in progress was received.
“We arrived and apprehended the suspect before he could leave,” Chief Douglas said.
The suspect, Mondrell White, 39, of Grenada was charged with bank robbery and is currently being detained in the Grenada County Jail.

“This is still an active investigation,” Chief Douglas concluded. “We have been in contact with the FBI concerning the robbery. More details will follow.”
No injuries were reported.
