Dear Editor,
To better serve Yazoo County employees and promote a more holistic approach to workplace well-being, I am proposing that Open Enrollment be expanded to include vendors beyond traditional insurance carriers on Sept. 15, which has already been scheduled by the County Administrator. This broader participation would allow employees to access valuable information and services that support their financial, physical and family well-being.
Potential participating vendors could include:
• Financial institutions such as banks and credit unions offering savings programs, loan options and financial literacy resources.
• Health Screening Providers offering services like blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring and wellness education.
• Public School District Representatives sharing information on student support programs and family engagement opportunities.
To accommodate this expanded format, I’ve reserved the Ricks Memorial Library Annex, located just two blocks from the Courthouse Complex, offering significantly more space than the current venue at the Yazoo County Administration office. This location will allow for multiple vendor stations, improved flow of foot traffic and a more engaging experience for employees.
This initiative reflects our commitment to employee empowerment, inter-agency collaboration and proactive health and financial education. I look forward to working with our partners to make this a meaningful and accessible event for all county staff.
Sincerely,
Yazoo County Supervisor David Peyton
