Do you recognize the name Lester Holt?
If you are a news junkie, you know that he is a journalist who works for NBC News. He may be one of the hardest working guys in the news business because he was everywhere during the pandemic.
Mr. Holt is a registered Independent, but if I had to guess, I would say that he is more Democrat than Independent. After all, he works for NBC.
Last week, I saw him conduct an interview with Vice-President Kamala Harris. To tell you the truth, I thought Holt would ask “softball” questions to the VP, something that would not offend her, something that she could hit out of the park. Well, I must admit that I was wrong.
Holt asked the VP the question that is on everyone’s mind, “When are you going to the border?” Now this is a simple, straightforward question, one that the VP should have literally swatted out of the room and into every living room tuned to NBC News.
“I’ve been to the border,” came the answer.
“No, you haven’t been to the border,” Holt snapped back.
“Yes, I’ve been to the border. I have.”
“No, you have not been to the border,” Holt concluded.
I cannot know what was going on in Kamala Harris’s mind, but over the past few weeks, every news network has documented that the VP has not been to the southern border. Liberal and conservative voices have noted that Harris has not toured the southern border, and further, has no plans to go. Holt boxed her in with one simple question, and she did not deliver a satisfactory answer.
Any normal politician would have handled this question with ease. He or she may not have given the answer that most of us want, but they would have given a plausible explanation for why they had not gone, especially since VP Harris has been placed in charge of the southern border.
Most politicians would have said, “No, I have not been to the southern border yet, but as soon as my schedule is cleared, I plan to make that trip.”
“Can you give us a time when you plan to go? Will it be soon?” Holt may have asked.
“I think it will be soon, Mr. Holt.”
Our southern border is a mess. Illegal aliens are streaming across our border, and there is no plan to stop them. Joe Biden is banking on the idea that once these Illegal Aliens have settled down, they will register as Democrats, thus keeping the Democrat Party in power for years to come.
Criminals are being allowed to cross the border, and already, home invasions, robbery, and murder rates are up. Someone in authority needs to go to the border and determine a course of action that protects American Sovereignty, curtails illegal immigration, and convinces other countries to keep their citizens at home.
This should be a welcomed task for Kamala Harris. She would be doing the country a huge service, and people would respect her for at least attempting to solve the problem. Otherwise, we must conclude that the Democrat Party is content with allowing this festering problem to grow until the American people have had enough.
Then the lack of confronting this issue may be something the Democrats will regret, especially those politicians who are forced to leave Washington.
