Following an explosion at CF Industries yesterday afternoon, CF officials have confirmed that “the incident has been contained, and all employees and contractors have been accounted for safely.”
At this time, no serious injuries have been reported to The Herald.
CF also reports that the facility’s ammonia plant remains in operation, and its ammonia storage tanks were not affected by the incident.
“We want to thank state and local first responders and the Yazoo City community for their support as we responded to this incident,” said Scott Tassin, general manager, Yazoo City Complex. “Our primary focus will always be the safety of our employees, contractors and the community where we live and work.”
An investigation will be conducted by the company in cooperation with appropriate authorities.
All shelter in place orders and evacuation orders have been lifted due to air monitors finding the area safe to return, according to Yazoo County Emergency Management.
All roadways are also reopened. And no restrictions are upon residents.
More details will appear in the next edition of The Herald.
