The 21 Club Inc. will have their Annual Scholarship Drive Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Contestants this year are Yazoo County High School senior Na’Lay Brown and Yazoo City High School senior Jer’Mya Porter.
Brown is a dedicated and accomplished senior at Yazoo County High School and is the daughter of Minnie Brown and Eugene Newson.
She is actively involved in leadership and academics, serving on the leadership team of the Yazoo County Band and as the Secretary of the Student Government Association (SGA).
Brown is also a committed scholar and a member of Beta Club and the National Society of High School Scholars, an organization that recognizes high-achieving students and provides opportunities for scholarships, leadership, and academic growth. Through academic competition in Beta Club, she placed 3rd in the state and 4th in the nation in mathematics, demonstrating her dedication to excellence.
Outside of school, Brown attends Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she is involved in her faith and community.
She also sings in multiple community choirs and is part of her family singing group, the Brown Children of Yazoo, reflecting her strong passion for music.
Brown has been awarded a full band scholarship to Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where she plans to continue her musical journey while pursuing her goal of becoming an accountant.
Porter is the daughter of Tyesha Donald and Jermie Porter and the granddaughter of Cathy and Wayne Donald and Rochelle Porter.
She is involved in numerous extracurricular activities which includes being a member of the Lady Indians basketball, volleyball, and track and field teams.
Porter is also a member of the high school marching band and Dancing Divas Dance Team. Porter was named Miss Athletic during her sophomore and senior years.
She attends Liberty Worship Center under the leadership of Pastor Caherry Fox, Jr. Porter has been accepted into Mississippi State University and plans on majoring in Criminal Justice.
