The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors moves forward with ending its contract with the city rubbish pit.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the county board approved sending the city of Yazoo City its 30-day notice to end its contract with the city-owned rubbish pit.
“We can’t get into the pit half of the time,” said Supervisor Cobie Collins. “And they are charging county residents, which they are not supposed to be doing. That was part of our contract. It’s just a number of issues.”
Yazoo County pays the city of Yazoo City $4,500 a month, $54,000 annually, for the use of its rubbish pit.
“I also can’t tell you how many times we have dumped gravel for its entrance, and they just bulldoze through it,” Collins said.
