Both Benton Academy and Manchester Academy participated in the Canton Christmas Tournament over the holiday break with varying results.
The Mavericks and Lady Mavericks both went 1-1 while both the Raiders and Lady Raiders went 0-2.
Amite 75, Lady Mavs 50
Three Lady Mavericks reached double digits against Amite, but it wasn’t enough to propel them to victory.
Angel Rae Carpenter and Alley Ables scored 15 apiece and Ellie Carpenter had 11 to lead the Lady Mavs.
Morgan Foster added four, Avery Austin had three and Selah Druey had two.
Lady Mavs 50, Centreville 39
Angel Rae Carpenter and Alley Ables again paced the Lady Mavs with 16 and 10 points respectively.
Ellie Carpenter chipped in with nine, Molly McBride had eight, Foster added five and Druey had two.
Manchester hosted Delta Streets Tuesday in a boys only contest and travels to Deer Creek Thursday.
Washington 46, Lady Raiders 21
Brynn Blackstock was the only Lady Raider to reach double digits with 11 points.
Other scorers were Sydnie Davis, Ana Paige Beith and Maci Lowery with three apiece, and Ava Grace Meeks added one.
Christ Covenant 47, Lady Raiders 42
The Lady Raiders fought hard but couldn’t come away with the win, falling by five.
Blackstock scored a team-high 21 points, followed by Leta Greco with nine, Meeks with eight, and Emma Middleton and Lowery with two apiece.
Meeks grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and Blackstock had a whopping seven steals.
Washington 49, Raiders 39
Tanner Vandevere’s double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) led the way for the Raiders in the 10-point loss to Washington.
Ethan Shanks added eight, Will Foster had five, Riley Powell had four, and Aiden Arnold and Peyton Compton each had two.
Christ Covenant 62, Raiders 24
Vandevere was the top scorer again for Benton, with nine points.
Clayton Saxton and Powell scored four apiece, Shanks had three, and Arnold and Compton rounded out the scoring with two apiece.
Benton traveled to Canton again Tuesday and visits Porters Chapel on Thursday.
