A Yazoo City man is dead after what investigators describe as an ambush shooting in broad daylight last weekend.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Tujuwon Wyatt, 22, was pronounced dead on the scene of the shooting from multiple gunshot wounds.
“The victim was gunned down, with multiple gunshot wounds,” Shivers added.
The incident occurred last Sunday at 10:40 a.m. on East Thirteenth Street, behind St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Police Chief Terry Gann, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said no arrests had been made as of press time. But investigators do have “a person of interest.”
“We do have video surveillance of a suspect, and we are currently attempting to identify that individual,” Gann said.
Gann said the shooting appears to have been premeditated.
“It appears as if the suspect waited down the street for the victim to appear,” Gann said. “The suspect had been seen in the area as well by others. It appears as if the suspect waited on the victim and ambushed him.”
As of press time, Gann said investigators are searching for one suspect. But he added that more individuals could be considered as the investigation continues.
