Eight inmates escaped Thursday night from the River Bend Detention Center in Lake Providence, Louisiana and were captured by Friday night.
The East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office deployed its full force and requested assistance from surrounding agencies to search for the escapees. Law enforcement agencies across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas participated in the search.
The Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office during the response. Sheriff Ezell said one reported sighting in Tallulah was investigated, but authorities later determined the report was unfounded. Officials said no inmates were located in Madison Parish.
Residents in Madison Parish were advised to remain cautious, secure homes and vehicles, and contact 911 if they observed suspicious activity.
Authorities confirmed that all eight inmates were captured. Four were captured in Lake Providence, one was captured in Transylvania, and two were captured in Alexandria. One was captured in Yazoo City, Mississippi while one was captured in Lake Village, Arkansas.
Sheriff Ezell said the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted where needed and credited cooperation among agencies for the outcome. Agencies involved included CREST from the Louisiana State Police, the United States Marshals Service, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Tallulah Police Department, the Alexandria Police Department, Louisiana Probation and Parole, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Officials said the investigation will continue into those who assisted in the escape of the inmates.
