Despite a few delays, at long last the swimming pool at the Wardell Leach Recreation Complex is now open for business.
And with temperatures hovering around the 90s on a routine basis, the pool’s opening couldn’t have come at a better time for many Yazooans looking for a way to beat the heat.
“We are finally up and running. We have upgraded the pool system with a new pump, and our three lifeguards have been certified. We’re going to have a good summer,” said head pool lifeguard Richard Griffin.
“Some of the delays were out of our control, but we’re just happy that we’re open and can give kids some recreation for the summer.”
The pool is open Monday through Saturdays with three operating sessions at $2 per session.
The sessions are: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.; 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.; and 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Adults Only swim is offered on Thursdays from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at $5.
Swimming lessons are also offered in morning or evening sessions for those wanting to learn how to swim.
Parks and Recreation Director Greg Shaffer or lifeguards Griffin, Damon Patterson or Damon Charles Patterson can be contacted for information regarding swimming lessons.
