Local law enforcement are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a capital murder case that is being described by local investigators as an ambush shooting.
Police Chief Terry Gann said Ladwell Japheth Roma Brown, 24, of Yazoo City, is wanted for capital murder in connection to the shooting death of Tujuwon Wyatt, 22.
“We have been looking for the suspect since day-one, but we were hesitant to release any information at first for fear that he would leave the state,” Gann said. “But we have exhausted all our means to locate the suspect. We are hoping someone within the community can help us find him. We have been looking everywhere and have found no clue as to where he might be. So far, we have uncovered nothing on his whereabouts.”
Gann said the investigation led to Brown being identified based on eyewitness statements and video surveillance. The capital murder charge is being applied because investigators believe the shooting was premeditated, an ambush. Investigators have yet to uncover the motive.
“We feel that the suspect waited for the victim to come out of his house,” Gann said. “Once the victim came out of his house, the suspect basically executed him.”
Earlier this month, Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Wyatt was pronounced dead on the scene of the shooting from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred Oct. 1 at 10:40 a.m. on East Thirteenth Street, behind St. John’s United Methodist Church.
“If anyone has Brown in their home, you can call us and we will come get him with no problems,” Gann said. “But if we find him in your home and you failed to notify us, you will be charged with harboring.”
To report the whereabouts of Brown, call the police department at 662-746-1131 or Crimestoppers at 662-746-TIPS.
