Things got off to a rough start for the Lady Indians against Raymond as the visiting Lady Rangers jumped out to a 16-1 first quarter lead. The Lady Indians scored 10 second-quarter points while allowing 12 and trailed 28-11 at the half. Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter, but the Lady Rangers put their foot back on the gas in the final quarter and outscored Yazoo City 20-9 to seal the win.

Indians 54, Rangers 74
Despite suffering a severe size advantage, the smaller, quicker Indians were able to race out of the gates to a 15-10 first quarter lead on the Rangers. Raymond, however, began to capitalize on their size advantage inside in the second quarter. The Rangers pounded the offensive boards - often getting three or four shots a possession- which led to a 22-10 second quarter advantage and a 32-25 halftime lead.
The Rangers continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Yazoo City 14-9 in the third quarter. YHS senior guard Roosevelt Johnson connected on a pair of deep three point shots in the quarter that kept the game from getting out of hand, but the Indians still trailed 46-34 heading into the final frame. Unfortunately for the Indians, the Rangers' superior size eventually took it's toll as Raymond closed out the game with a 27-19 fourth quarter.
Senior forward Chavis Banks battled valiantly against the Rangers and scored a team-high 19 points to pace the Indians. Leslie Nelson and Johnson added 15 and 12 points respectively followed by Sam Johnson with seven and senior guard Davari Truman with one.
The district tournament will be played at Greenwood High School. The schedule had not been released as of press time.
