Benton Academy senior Anthony Ward and freshman Ben Boggan qualified for the state golf tournament last week at a tournament hosted by Canton Academy.
Other BA golfers competing were freshmen Ayden Jones and Aubrey Peirce and seventh grader Garrett Vandevere.
Boggan scored an 80, and Ward scored 82 to qualify for state.
“This is the second time for both to shoot less than 85 this year as they did it at the 'Ice Breaker' Benton Tournament March 18, where Ben shot a 76 and Anthony an 84,” said Raiders golf coach Clay Ellis.
Ellis said he was pleased with his team’s performance at Canton, and they showed improvement from last season.
“Our team score of 363 was better than last year's result of over 400,” Ellis said. “As a team must post 350 or better to qualify for the state, this year's team is well within reach of qualifying soon.”
