How many times have you heard the expression, “The coronavirus doesn’t know the difference between a Democrat and a Republican, a liberal and a conservative, a Marxist and a Capitalist?” Everyone knows this but Washington Democrats. Nancy Pelosi has led a non-stop barrage of criticism against President Trump. “Crying” Chuck Shumer takes to the Senate floor daily to take uncalled for digs at the President, one being that he is so stupid that he didn’t ask for enough money to fight this virus and find a cure.
The “fake news” continues to create panic among some elements of the public who think that the virus is going to wipe out the human race. Nothing could be further from the truth. The facts are that the President has assembled an elite group of scientists who are closely following how this virus is spreading. The President has closed entry into the United States from countries such as China, South Korea, and other countries where the virus is prevalent. This was “forward thinking” that gave the United States time to prepare for the spread of this contagious virus.
People across this country continue to baffle and amaze me. I witnessed a woman on TV last week who was literally in panic mode. She was so frightened that she said that she would vote for Bernie Sanders or anyone else who got the Democratic Party nomination. This, of course, is sweet music to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Shumer. Their efforts to politicize this health problem is working and apparently in some sections of the country, working well.
Although I take the spread of the coronavirus seriously, I have faith in the President of the United States and the team he has assembled. For anyone interested, Vice-President Mike Pence gives an update each day, and I believe that he is shooting straight with the public. The “fake news” is trying to bring the President down, and as a result, will say anything to damage his credibility. Recently, the “fake news” claimed that the President claimed that “the coronavirus was a hoax.” He did say that what the Democrats were doing was like Russian collusion which was a hoax. “Fake news” has gotten to the point where it is difficult to believe anything they say, and this is not good. America needs a press that presents the facts to the citizens of this country so that they can make informed decisions.
We do not live in a third world country. The United States has the finest healthcare facilities in the world. We have the best research teams. We have the best doctors in the world. Any one of our doctors here in Yazoo County can treat the coronavirus. Unless you have an underlying health problem or unless you are elderly, the chances of recovery are excellent. In fact, if you look at the statistics, the flu kills thousands of our citizens each year, and unless you are tuned in to medical statistics, you would not know this.
President Trump’s team of experts is telling us that the coronavirus will probably spread, but it will be manageable. Some individuals who contract the virus will recover without medical treatment. In the meantime, all of us should follow the simple rules suggested by the President. Wash your hands regularly. Cough into your sleeve. If you are sick, don’t go to work. Of course, if you become seriously ill, don’t hesitate to visit your doctor. He or she will know what to do, and more than likely, your case will be no worse that having the flu.
Remember what President Trump said. “This will end.” I think that as the weather warms, and the flu season subsides, we may see a reduction in coronavirus cases across the world. I don’t think that any of us should panic. My prediction is that we will see many more deaths as a result of the flu than we will see from the coronavirus.
