Feb. 20 marks one of the highlights of the year for those who love the outdoors in Yazoo County.
The Yazoo County Wildlife Banquet begins at 4:30 p.m. at the McCoy Elementary cafetorium.
Registration begin’s at 4:30 p.m followed by a taster’s choice wild game buffet at 5 p.m. Anyone wishing to donate wild game for the banquet may contact John Ledbetter at 571-0250.
Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 9 and under. Tickets include an all-you-can-eat catfish and chicken meal catered by Angie and Archie Edgar.
As always, there will be plenty of big bucks on display, with awards presented for the top kills in several categories. Anyone bringing a mount will be entered in a drawing for a deer cart.
There will also be a live auction with proceeds going to benefit Catch-A-Dream Foundation and Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
The Yazoo County Wildlife Banquet has raised over $40,000 for Catch-A-Dream and almost $17,000 for Blair E. Batson over the years.
The Catch-A-Dream Foundation is an international , charitable, non-profit foundation that provides once-in-a-lifetime dream hunting and fishing trips to children across the United States and Canada, age 18 and younger, who suffer from life-threatening illnesses. Through participation in this program, families incur no expense.
The Batson Children's Hospital averaged 9,000 admissions last year, and more than 150,000 youngsters were treated in its clinics and emergency room.
