A Yazoo County man is accused of attempting to murder a female after a heated argument inside a Bentonia home.
LC Collins, 47, was charged with attempted murder. And investigators said more charges could be added following an initial appearance in court.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said Collins turned himself into authorities shortly after sunrise Monday morning.
“Collins and a female victim began having an argument around 3:30 a.m. Monday,” Gann said. “He shot her three times while inside the house, striking her with non-life-threatening wounds.”
Gann said the shooting occurred inside a home on Jackson Avenue, near Rose Hill Road in Bentonia.
“After the shooting, Collins ran into the woods near the house,” Gann said. “At daylight, he turned himself into law enforcement.”
Gann said the victim remained in the hospital as of press time, and Collins was awaiting his initial appearance in court. Four more charges are pending with the case.
