The search for the municipal school district’s next superintendent continues with local trustees meeting with state officials next week.
John Wallace, president of the Yazoo City Municipal School District, said the school board will meet with the Mississippi School Board Association board director Monday.
“We have scheduled for the entire school board to meet Monday for interview training with them,” Wallace said. “Through the state, we will then set up dates for each of our top five candidates.”
Wallace has also confirmed with The Herald that interim Lucille Lovette is one of the five candidates for the leadership post. In the past, officials, including Lovette, have been tight-lipped on her pursuit of the seat.
Lovette has even called the inquiry of her desire to apply for the leadership post as a “loaded question.”
“Yes, she did apply,” Wallace said. “And yes, she is one of the five candidates.”
Wallace also added that he will be taking the questions submitted by the public with him to Monday’s meeting.
“I will be picking those up and taking them with me when we sit down with the state school board,” he said.
