A Yazoo City man was found dead inside his bathroom Saturday evening after a fire engulfed his entire mobile home.
Fred Ketchson Jr., 65, was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was discovered through the rubble of his home, located at 872 W. Madison Street.
Fire Marshal Kenny Washington said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and he was working with the state fire marshal’s office Monday morning to assist.
“The body was taken to the state crime lab to make sure there was no foul play involved,” Washington said.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said the fire was first reported around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
“Upon arrival of the Yazoo City Fire Department, the mobile home was fully engulfed,” Shivers said. “After getting the fire under control, firefighters were going through debris when the discovered a body.”
The cause of Ketchson’s death remains unknown as investigators await results from an autopsy.
