Two Yazoo City men have been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred over the weekend at a local gas station.
Shermetrick Day was charged with simple assault and carrying a concealed weapon.
Parviz King was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
Cpt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said the shooting occurred at the Phillips 66 gas station on Broadway late Friday evening. No fatalities were reported as a result of the shooting.
“The incident began with a physical altercation inside the store, which led to shots being fired,” Nevels said. “One person was hit in the neck and shoulder area.”
Nevels said the victim remained in the hospital as of press time.
The investigation led to the arrest of both Day and King. Nevels added that the case is under heavy investigation, and more charges and arrests are pending.
