The Board of Mayor and Aldermen has named Kaneilia Williams as its interim city clerk.
The former executive assistant to Mayor Diane Delaware assumed the post last Tuesday, following the resignation of Mario Edwards.
“She has been with the city for several years, and she now takes on the position of interim city clerk,” said Delaware, during Monday’s city council meeting. “She has demonstrated her ability in previous assignments to be on time, having great attention to detail.”
Williams holds two Bachelor degrees in finance and real estate management. She also earned a Master’s degree in business administration.
Police Chief Ron Sampson also attended his first board meeting this week, announcing he has already sent a few supervisors within the police department to an ethics class in Ruleville.
Sampson said he is holding regular meetings with his department supervisors every Friday. Having met all his officers, he will spend next week touching base with his jailers.
