A Yazoo City man remains behind bars after he allegedly attempted to kidnap and possibly sexually assault a female woman early Sunday morning.
James Martin, 55, was charged with attempted kidnapping.
Capt. Tilmon Clifton, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sept 10 on Charles Street.
“Officers were stopped by a female who stated that Martin tried to kidnap her, demanding sexual favors,” Clifton said. “The victim stated that Martin grabbed her around her neck and attempted to force her inside an abandoned home.”
Clifton said officers quickly apprehended Martin shortly after allegations were made. He said Martin was also positively identified by both the victim and witnesses who attempted to help the victim during the incident.
“The victim also had bruising in the area that Martin allegedly grabbed her,” Clifton said.
As of press time, Martin remained in jail, awaiting bond.
