The next Yazoo County Circuit Court term will begin this month with a full docket.
Circuit Clerk Robert Coleman said the court’s latest term will begin on Nov. 28 at the Yazoo County Courthouse.
“It seems we will have a full term because we are trying to settle these past cases that have been continued,” Coleman said. “We are expecting a full docket.”
One of those continuing cases is the murder trial of local businessman Ricky Saxton.
Johnny Mack Brown, the man accused of murdering Saxton, is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
Last August, Brown asked Judge Jannie Lewis to move his trial to another county.
“We haven’t received anything at this time about a change of venue,” Coleman said.
Shontina Brown, the wife of Johnny Mack Brown, was also arrested in connection with the murder case. Her trial is scheduled to begin on Dec. 19.
