A suspect remains on the run after possibly being shot by a business owner he attempted to rob earlier this week.
Chief Ronald Samson said the victim was working inside his Jerry Clower business when he heard something outside the building Tuesday night.
“He went outside and found the suspect near his air conditioning unit,” Sampson said. “The suspect was attempting to steal the unit. The business owner did give a warning into the air and told the suspect to leave. But then the suspect made an aggressive move towards him in which he fired a shot at the suspect.”
Sampson said the suspect may have been struck, but he fled the scene after the shooting. As of press time, the suspect had not been located.
“No one has arrived at the local hospital,” Sampson said. “We are urging the public to call us if there is someone who has been shot but has not reported it.”
Sampson added that the investigators were able to recover one shoe, a bolt cutter and blood at the scene.
