A Yazoo City man was released from jail and his charges were dropped as investigators take the case to the Grand Jury to determine if an earlier shooting was a justifiable crime.
Stanley Fisher was released from jail this week, following the fatal shooting of Clarence Shehy on March 11 at Fisher’s East Jefferson Street home.
Chief Ronald Sampson said the case will head to the Grand Jury for its determination.
“This is an open investigation,” Sampson said. “Fisher is not charged as of yet. The Grand Jury will determine whether this was a justifiable crime or in fact homicide. But it is being looked at to see if it falls under the Castle Doctrine.”
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Shehy died from multiple gunshot wounds. Fisher fired several shots at Shehy after a disturbance in Fisher’s back yard.
