Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a local hotel while brandishing a knife last weekend.
Police Chief Andre Lloyd said a man entered the Hampton Inn on Sunday with a knife, taking money from the front desk.
“A black male came inside the hotel first asking to rent a room for a couple of hours,” Lloyd said. “The front desk clerk said they didn’t sell rooms by the hour, and he then left the hotel.”
Lloyd said the suspect returned 45 minutes later with a weapon.
“He displayed a knife on the side of his leg, and told the clerk to get down on the floor,” Lloyd said. “He then went to the register and got an undisclosed amount of cash.”
Lloyd said no one was injured during the robbery. He also said a surveillance camera record the robbery, but the images don’t provide much detail.
“We are checking with other stores in the area to see if they had maybe seen a suspicious male that night as well,” Lloyd said.
As of press time, no arrests had been made.
To make a tip on this armed robbery, Lloyd urges the public to call Crimestoppers at 746-TIPS.
