A Yazoo City man remains in jail after he admitted to breaking into a home, stealing a pair of tennis shoes from a child.
John Sullivan, 34, was charged with burglary of a residence and possession of stolen property.
A house burglary was reported last Thursday on Highland Drive, said Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff.
“Sullivan gave a full confession and said he broke into a back window of the home,” Sheriff said. “Once inside, he stole a child’s name-brand tennis shoes and snuck back out of the window.”
Sullivan was later arrested on Old Highway 3 with the shoes in his possession, admitting to the crime.
Sullivan remained in jail as of press time.
In other news, a convicted felon was found with a concealed weapon after he led deputies on a foot chase over the weekend.
Fredrick Washington, 22, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct, failure to comply and fleeing.
Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff said deputies received a call about suspicious activity in Oakhaven Apartments, near the Shady Lane area.
“Once deputies arrived on the scene, they got into a foot chase with Washington,” Sheriff said. “He ran to Shady Lane Apartments, where he was captured and found to be concealing a weapon.”
Sheriff said Washington was convicted of a burglary in 2015.
Washington remained in jail as of press time.
