A burglary suspect is back in jail this week for allegedly stealing a truck in south Mississippi and returning to Yazoo County. And law enforcement strongly suspect he considered burning the evidence.
Marshall Scott, 33, is being held in the county jail for public intoxication. But possession of stolen property and attempt to commit arson charges are also pending.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said Scott was recently released from jail on separate breaking and entering charges from last month.
Scott was held at gunpoint by his female victim after he was accused of attempting to set up residency inside her vacant camper near Graball Road in early November.
Recently, Scott allegedly stole a truck from Walthall County and returned to Yazoo County with the stolen vehicle.
“He possibly also was about to burn the truck because gasoline was found poured inside the vehicle,” Gann said. “Something must have distracted him because he left the vehicle and was picked up by deputies not far from it.”
The case remains under investigation with pending charges from both Yazoo and Walthall counties.
