Two suspects who allegedly attempted to avoid their arrests were quickly apprehended after two recent separate incidents.
Michael Knox was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after a routine traffic stop led to a foot chase near Broadway.
Cpt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle when Knox allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and began running through an adjacent field.
“The suspect did pull out a weapon, but he never fired any shots,” Nevels said. “The officer was able to catch him and arrest him rather quickly.”
In a separate incident, Xerxes Dawson was charged with escape, disorderly conduct, domestic violence and failure to comply.
Nevels said officers were called to the Orbit gas station in reference to an altercation between Dawson and a female victim inside a vehicle.
“Officers were able to observe that there were signs of domestic violence,” Nevels said. “As Dawson was being placed in custody, he escaped from officers briefly. He ran across the highway but was quickly apprehended.”
