A woman suspected of stealing nearly $500 worth of plants was arrested Thursday after investigators recognized her familiar face.
Home surveillance video led to the arrest of Jenna Rae Kirk on charges of petit larceny. Kirk is suspected of stealing nine azalea plants from a homeowner in Benton.
Also charged is Kirk’s alleged accomplice, April Rollin. Sheriff Jake Sheriff said Rollin lives near the victim and is believed to have drove to and from the scene.
Sheriff said investigators quickly recognized Kirk from the video because she was the suspect in another recent property crime.
“She was the suspect in a recent incident where outdoor furniture was stolen from a home in the Fletcher’s Chapel community,” Sheriff said. “The value of the items stolen could have actually made a felony case, but the property owners declined to press charges once their property was recovered.”
Sheriff said the increasing use of home security systems is making it easier to catch thieves.
“You never know when you’re on camera,” Sheriff said.
