In a landslide victory, Mayor Diane Delaware held her seat this week as leader of Yazoo City.
Less than 1,000 voters took to the polls Monday, earning Delaware 76.91 percent of the overall vote against challenger Independent Theodis Freeman, who secured 22.78 percent.
A total of 932 votes were cast in this week’s general election.
Across the city, Delaware earned 726 total votes to Freeman’s 215.
The new Board of Mayor and Aldermen include Delaware with returning Aldermen Ron Johnson with Ward 1 and Aubry Brent Jr. with Ward 4.
Newcomers include Andre Lloyd with Ward 2 and Sir Jonathan Rucker with Ward 3.
The elected officials will be sworn in at the next city council meeting on April 9.
