Reports from concerned citizens led to the quick arrest of two burglary suspects Tuesday evening.
Yazoo City Police officers and deputies with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary at Broadmoor Apartments and received valuable information from eyewitnesses.
Rasheen Morris of Yazoo City and Julius France were later arrested and charged with residential burglary.
The suspects are believed to have broken into an apartment and stolen a pair of flat screen televisions. Those televisions were recovered during the arrest.
Morris has a lengthy criminal history with charges that include trespassing, petit larceny, multiple theft charges and an auto burglary charge. He was out on bond for residential burglary charges at the time of his arrest.
France has no known prior criminal history.
Police Chief Jeff Curtis praised the residents who provided information to police that led to a fast arrest.
“This is a perfect example of what can happen when people in the community work with their local law enforcement officials,” Curtis said. “More often than not, there is always a witness in some way. That person or persons coming forward can provide vital information to those working the crime scene.
