Over 5,000 signatures were provided to lawmakers last week in support of the Yazoo backwater pump station that was halted in 2008.
With the Steele Bayou flood gates being opened last week, the flood waters have descended but only slightly as residents continue to battle what many are calling “a man-made disaster.”

Two suspects have been charged with the murder of Billy Ray Peeples, who was beaten to death earlier this summer.
Atoya "Toy" Savell, 37, and Victor Manor, 31, were both charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Peeples, also known as “the Peanut Man.”

MS Supreme Court rules that drowning victim's family may seek damages
