A Yazoo County man remains behind bars after allegedly stabbing his sleeping brother.
Donnie Skinner, 35, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said the stabbing occurred last Wednesday at a home on McCurdy Drive.

Major lighting project under way in Yazoo City

The Public Service Commission of Yazoo City is well underway with its new project to update every street light in the city.

The project started on Aug. 21, and since then, over 2,200 lights have been updated in Ward 3 and Ward 4, which involved replacing the old and outdated mercury-vapor lights with brand new LED lights.

Search begins for next PSC director

The search for a new general manager for the Public Service Commission of Yazoo City has been placed on hold temporarily.

The current director, Jimmy Wever, who is expecting to retire next June, said that the hiring process will resume in March 2018.

Funeral services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at the Carpenter Family Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.

Yazoo County woman charged with murder, search under way for accomplice

Yazoo County deputies are searching for a suspect believed to have helped a murder suspect flee from the scene of a crime in Vicksburg.
Summer McGee, 20, of Yazoo County is charged with the murder of 37-year-old Moses Lockett. Vicksburg police investigators believe McGee shot Luckett in the head Friday afternoon.
